viscom in engineering?

I want to get into engineering stuffs at uni and I thought technical drawing would be a good skill to have plus interesting too.

just wondering for anyone who knows if vis com involves a lot of technical drawing.

i am thinking of doing vis com but am wary of its content - if its drawing packages of milk cartons to meet a design brief then im out (probably) but if you get to choose what to draw e.g. a layout of a device that does ... stuffs then that would be cool wid me.

can some soul write some stuffs down covered in vis com may be useful in engi

tenks many

Mod: Moved this to the VisCom sub-forum. :)

Howdy!

Personal opinion: I agree - technical drawing is a cool skill. Worthwhile, IMO. I don't know much about Engineering but I assume it might be handy (somebody might like to confirm or deny).

From memory, VisCom 1/2 has a decent emphasis on technical drawing, but it's more of an optional thing in 3/4. Like, you can pretty much decide yourself what you want to do, including how much (to an extent) you draw technically. To answer your question, it's probably a combination of technical drawing and drawing packages of milk cartons to meet a design brief haha.

It's been a while since I've done VCD, but from what you've said I reckon it'd be a good choice.

very interesting, tenks! can you pick up 3/4 w/o 1/2? Is viscom a progressive subject like a language that you can only keep getting better at, or is it more content-based that you can just draw yourself a good score at the end?

did u do all 4 units? tenk you!

I'm not sure. Probably. It might depend on your school. My personal opinion is that it's very doable, but you might be at a bit of a disadvantage (by virtue of having less folio experience/knowledge of technical drawing etc.). But yeah, probably best to ask your school this one.

It's not particularly content-heavy. I think you're bound to get better at it the more you do it, but there's not really any knowledge that's essential to learn in 1/2.
