Alize:
Hi guys,
For Mod A we've studied 1984 in class and i was just wondering if in an essay i could write the title in numbers "1984" or would i have to write "Nineteen Eighty-Four?"
Thanks

This received much dispute. My teacher told us for our trials that it was permissible to write '1984', however she could not provide the same reassurance for the final HSC.

I wrote the long thing out because it didn't really waste time for me, however you might want to ask your teacher before the exam (or now by email) what he/she expects. Regarding the final exam, however, I can't comment further

Hey Alize! Welcome to the forums!! ;D to be safe, write "Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984)" in your Thesis paragraph, then use the numbers from that point forward  ;D

Tiny problem. The brackets are usually used to state the year of publication of the text

Hmm, if the original poster would like to include that (and it is a good inclusion for a Module A essay, not so relevant elsewhere) then perhaps integrate it throughout the sentence.

EG - This notion is explored in George Orwell's 1949 science fiction novel, Nineteen Eighty Four (1984)  ;D
