Majoring in Actuarial Sciences

Hi, my Yr 11 Subject Selection  (For yr11 Subjects) is coming up really soon.

My interests are in Math and Science subjects.
Right now, I dont have a clear idea of what i want to do as a job in the future.

But one of them are Actuarial Sciences. I've checked the pre-reqs and it doesnt require me to have any commerce related subjects for VCE.

For those who are majoring in Actuarial Sciences, how essential is taking Economics 3&4? Would you recommend taking 3&4 Economics?

Also, I need to take subject space in consideration as I have to decide two subjects out of Economics, Chinese SLA and Chemistry.
And I dont have a background in Economics, so im not sure how well i would perform.

Can anyone give some advice?
(btw, how is the workload in Economics?)
2017 Methods

You don't need VCE Economics to study Actuarial Studies or Economics at uni. The first economics subject (Introductory Microeconomics) doesn't assume any previous knowledge of economics.

Can't speak for the uni itself but...

I had no business background. Econ was the easiest course the semester regardless.

Nup, economics is definitely not essential or necessary to do actuarial. Workload for economics - I'm doing ECON10004 this semester, and the workload is very light, but that's subjective (I probably find it light because its my 5th subject and a breadth, so I don't put heaps of effort in)
