Burial Rites prompt; where do I even start?

How is Agnes' journey a 'Burial Rite' for more than just her? Discuss

I've been trying to prepare ideas for the above prompt for a while, but cannot think of anything. Would anyone happen to have any ideas?

Thanks  :D

You could grapple with a topic like this by thinking about the journey that other peripheral characters in the text take (think of Toti and Magret as being really notable examples of this). How are they transformed, or how do their initial perceptions of Agnes / society change as a result of Agnes' introduction into their lives?

Besides that, you might consider exploring the way in which Kent uses Agnes' confessions/storytelling as a way to reach the reader: it is a journey as much for us as it is for her, largely because Kent works to slowly strip away the stain of history that has infected and stained Agnes with ignominy.
