How questions

Can you disagree with how questions? What happens if a question is a how question and you struggle to answer the question with the notes you have prepared.

If a question says How is _________ shown in the text, then you need to be a little careful. You can't say it isn't there, because that isn't answering the question. What you should do instead is look for a way to flip it. For example, How do your texts reveal both the emotional and intellectual responses provoked by the experience of discovering? This was the essay question for this years Paper 1.

Here, you could argue the damaging nature of these responses, or compare them with some other response that you want to talk about. The question is broad enough to allow that. However, you need to have these key ideas, "emotional and intellectual responses," in your answer to be answering the question at hand :)
