Hi,

Would anyone know the venue and times (start and finish) for tutor training day on Wednesday, 23rd of November?

Thanks  :)

I'm not tutoring this year, but last year it was in Union House. I assume you'll receive an email with the relevant details if you haven't already.

Pretty sure the details of tutor training day are yet to be ironed out :) One would expect, as Joseph41 said, that it would probably be held again in Union House.

You should really think about going to camp as an alternative to tutor training day though; you'll get a lot more out of it and it's a really good environment for a camp :)

Thanks very much for both your replies. I'm unfortunately away when the camp is being held, but it sounds like it is a lot of fun.  :)

Does anyone know from past experience what sort of things you do on tutor training day or how the day is structured? Thanks.  :)

It's changing up a bit this year :) There'll be an introduction in the morning, and then some workshops that cover different elements of tutoring. Not sure if they're doing anything else in the arvo, but there's a social event afterwards :)

Are you being a tutor support person again this year?
Because if you are, I 10/10 recommend everyone going to go see you guys. You guys were great. Even you don't have anything specific to discuss would still highly recommend having a chat to the tutor support officers (especially you)

You're too sweet! :)
I will indeed be TSOing again next year. In fact, along with Jesse, I'll be leading the team next year. Expect to see us around Wednesday or at camp :D

In effect, the TSO team is there to help you guys be the best damn tutors around, so if anybody has any questions/concerns/great ideas, or just wants to run something by us, don't even think about it—just get in touch! :D
We're going to try to be more active next year and spend more time letting people know that we're there and trying to start more conversations with tutors ourselves. But, speaking from experience, the TSOs can be a really great resource if you have an idea you're not quite sure about, if your classes aren't popping the way you want or if you're struggling with a tricky student.
