Hey there! Here are some films:
The Perks of Being a Wallflower (also a novel)
23 Degrees, 5 minutes (YouTube)
Slumdog Millionaire
Kim Ho’s The Language of Love
Jane Campion’s the Piano

Some short stories:
Tim Winton’s Distant lands
Tim Winton’s Neighbours
Kate Chopin’s The Story of an Hour

and I don't have any news article ideas...perhaps Humans of New York? Not exactly a news article of course, but a "blog" style piece :)
