I'm in year 10 doing advanced maths (pretty much methods 1/2, year 10 maths and further 3/4 combined)
Any units in particular I should pay attention to or learn in detail (matrices, functions, equations, etc).
The whole year 7-9 maths was kind of a stretch pretty much an exaggeration. Just meant is it actually as basic as people say.
These are my subjects
Year 10 - 20th century history 1/2, bio 1/2, extended investigation 3/4
Year 11 - bio 3/4, methods 1/2, further 1/2, English 1/2, chem 1/2
Year 12 - 3/4 subjects for the 1/2s in year 11
What subjects did u do throughout your vce journey?
So does 1/2 further not help out with 3/4 at all? Otherwise if it doesn't contribute a lot (like help out with concepts for 3/4), then I'll just do something else in year 11 (maybe accounting 1/2, enonomics, bus man 1/2), then pick up further in year 12.
Thanks mate!
I know I'm not Joseph41, but
I did Further in 2014.
The latest study design (2016-2018) has been updated so that students completing Further 3/4 do a Core module, consisting of Data & Statistics and Recursion & Finance Modelling. In addition to the Core module, you must also complete a minimum of 2 other modules of a selection of 4, generally chosen by the school (although you can deviate to your best 2 for your exams).
Further 1/2 (i.e. General Maths 1/2), from what I have heard, has a little overlap, however it is not necessary for Further 3/4. With your other subjects, particularly since you are doing Chem and Methods as well, it is likely that you have some aptitude for maths and therefore may not necessarily
have to take General Maths 1/2 in preparation. Depending on how confident you are in your math skills (definitely after having a glance at the
Further study design), you can decide on whether General Maths 1/2 is something you'd like to do or not.
