Motivation after a bad exam

Anyone got any motivation when you do poorly on an exam you tried really hard for? I'm normally so decently at essay writing but this time I performed really poorly. I got several people to mark my essay and I fully memorised it and wrote it in the exam but it was at the very bottom marks of the cohort when normally in the top 20 can't get myself motivated again

Thank you so much!

Hey hey! I'm sorry that you feel this way, from personal experience (in economics no less!) I know what if feels like to walk out of an exam confident, only the realise that you didn't perform as well as expected (everyone goes through it don't worry you're not alone - eco is freaking hard!). It looks that your work ethic is already really strong, and it is fantastic that you are already getting into the habit of getting essays checked over my multiple people - keep that up! Remember that it is only one exam, and I'm assuming it was your first one for year 12 eco? Think of this exam as a learning curve, use it to understand where you went wrong, and what you need to improve for next time. It's better that these problems arise at the beginning of year 12 rather than the HSC exam, now you have the perfect guidelines to steadily improve your mark! You have more than enough time to pick it back up :) Also remember that your individual marks for your internals don't actually matter - this one exam isn't going to be sent to BOSTES only your rank, so if you can improve your placing with your other assessments then this mark won't even be considered, just a small blip in the radar :)

Hey there! That really sucks to hear about your exam, it's okay to be disappointed. I think everyone here would be able to relate to getting a crappy mark after studying really hard. Sometimes the question can trip you up no matter how prepared or talented you are.

In terms of motivation, I always found it helpful to think about the bigger picture and remember that the actual HSC exams are the ones that are going to really make a difference. They're the ones you should be looking towards and keep working your butt off. The HSC is a long year, don't let one exam for one subject get you down. By the sounds of it you're already studying hard, you've got a good support network of people reading your essay and you're here on ATAR Notes - so your hard work will definitely pay off in the long run.   ;D
