Today went better than expected (aside from minimal sleep) :D

New case study group seems great, and my prac group also seems really good :D
Looking forward to some new content. Been dreading going back but tbh, I think that's just the lazy part of me not wanting to do any work - if I think about it, I actually quite enjoy learning all the new stuff.

A bit stressed out about the major assignment for the semester, though. And the fact that I really need to get my organisation skills together haha

Edit: I forgot to mention that there was a petting zoo at uni today. But I didn't get to see any cute animals because I was in class all day :(

I'm so glad that there are no tutes/workshops this week (except one subject for me). Allows us to not get overloaded on the first week, and instead have no time from next week until the end of semester
So far, it seems like the regular physics is a massive improvement on the advanced physics from last semester. The lectures seem a bit slow (granted, I've only had one) but they don't seem to be overloading us with information
I found out a couple friends share similar timetables with me including a workshop and tute :)
Yesterday I got free lunch, a free hot chocolate, and free krispy kreme, I love freebies!
It's difficult to fit my tutoring around my timetable, I really want to have weekends and Fridays off from tutoring so I'm hoping it'll work out

Day 2 of semester:
I essentially had this experience from the IT crowd in a tute today, where we were "practicing mindfulness" (i.e. for me, lying down for the 10 minutes and trying my best not to fidget or laugh) and had to go around in a circle afterwards and say how meaningful the experience was for us :P

Sooooo jealous. It's just hectic from the get-go for me :(
Is this a thing that happens across all of unimelb, or is it just for particular units or courses? :)

Today:
- Sorted out my group for the first assignment of the semester- it is an interesting topic that we've chosen, but we're not happy that it is a presentation haha.
- Discovered that the parklands around uni are very peaceful and I found it quite relaxing
- I've already seen most of the lecturers pushing their specialisations; we have to choose ours soon :o

3 of my subjects have weekly assignments due (not the full-marks-if-you-try ones, actual assessable ones). Not looking forward to the never-ending work, and the larger assignments on top of it.

The standard is no tutes no workshops no pracs during the first week. Some subjects do, but a lot don't as you haven't really learned anything in the first day or two. This means I didn't have to go in today :D day off before the flood of work comes in.

What are you thinking of specialising in?  :)

At the moment, I'm looking at specialising into formulation science (which looks at drug delivery, disposition and dynamics), but I'll see how I go in the taster unit I have this semester, which gives me a look at all 3 that I have a choice of

(The other 2 specialisations are medicinal chemistry and drug discovery biology, in case anyone wants to know :) )

Sounds interesting, it's good they have a taster subject (wish they had something like that at school / before uni to decide your subjects). I'm the classic AN nerd, hoping to major in maths (also considering engineering) with some commerce/finance subjects on the side :)

I said I'd commit to attending every lecture this sem if possible but I went to bed really late last night and ended up staying home today, missing 3 lectures (and if this was next week, a tute)

I did watch 2.5 of them already so that's a start? luckily most 1st week lectures are pointless

I'm doing 4 subjects again (after doing 3 for the past 2 semesters), 2 of which have weekly pracs so that's making me a bit nervous and we haven't even started yet :s

also I have to get all H1s for the rest of my degree to fix my WAM and I still don't know how to study

*screams*

I feel you on this. I've got a weekly things due every Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday across 3 subjects. Although mine are just online quizzes, they're still there as persistent nags in the back of your head as you try to get major assignments in. Gives me a reason to really be on top of my work though.

good luck!!  :)

this sem I've gone pretty lucky in that area, I have very few assignments, only essays and exams.
I kinda liked doing quizzes and stuff though, it was more like 'free marks' and also helps to make sure you're on track

I slept in 50 mins and rushed, got back on schedule and then saw my train pull up when I was a minute away #uniproblems
And then it got held up. And the tram got held up too.
