I'm a bit new to this so just to be clear, we go to JMSS on the 27th of May to take an "Edutest" on paper? Just wanted to make sure  :)

If you're in year 10 currently, going into year 11 in 2018 then yes, your edutest is on the Sat the 27th of May. I'm pretty sure the edutest is written on paper too :)

Hi,
I'm also a Year 9 trying out for JMSS! Does anyone know any topics I need to revise or learn for the Science part? & If I need to learn the basics for Year 10?
I've heard that you just need to know the basic concepts from year 8 and year 9 really well but I would just briefly check out some year 10 stuff but only do that if you feel completely comfortable with those year 8 and 9 topics. I hope we can both get in !!!

thanks! :) just a question, with the scientific writing/ reports, will we be given any background information at all? also, will there be a range of topics to choose from or will there just be one set topic. Thank you so much xD

Yeah, you need to be fairly familiar with year 7, 8, and 9 science and maths topics but last year the science tests were just analysing the information that  had been given. PM me if you have any questions :)

nah, I didn't go for macrob because I don't particularly like schools with just one gender and I would've gone for nossal instead but I just wasn't motivated or up for it. I feel like I agree more with the way jmss teach :) hbu?

i remember flunking the numerical in yr 8 selective (ie guessed every question) but i still got above average so....... right now i'm trying to focus on studying science and just not thinking about numerical lol!
also, how much time are you guys spending studying? bc i feel like I'm not doing enough!

same, I feel like I'm doing so little. Getting into macrob is good as! I bet I probably wouldn't have gotten in ahaha I was so unmotivated! I do tutoring on the weekends but I feel like everything we do is so irrelevant so I study extra on top of that. urrrrg I'm so bad at numerical reasoning hahhah I find it so difficult sometimes and Idk how to make my skills better :(

also, do you know what the science essays are going to be like because I think i'm going to fail those
