Cathode Ray Tubes - do we have to know how to draw it?

Yes you should be able to draw a basic CRT with at least a cathode,anode and evacuated glass tube.

And in addition, have a rough idea of how to draw the plates and coils that were used in Thompson's experiment! As armtistic says though, very basically - Don't need super detailed technical diagrams :)

How do we know how much detail to go into - and not into - for the dotpoints?! I guess Jacaranda has everything but sometimes our school just pops out a super in depth question that leaves you "???"

Your best gauge will be past HSC papers and their solutions - Ideally something that divides it into topics, the AN topic tests do this! But basically, if you can answer the questions asked in the exams, you have enough detail!! Often textbooks go wayyy too deep into things :)
