Beyond Year 12...

1. What are you most excited about?
2. What are you most fearful of?
3. If you're planning to go to uni and had to order your preferences right now, what would be the first few? (I think this'll be interesting to compare later on!)

Aaaaaand go! ;D

Alrighty here goes!

1. Most excited about spending time with my friends before we all split up ( :'() But I'm also excited in general that I'm finally finishing school which I've done for years and years and years!

2. I'm most fearful of the uncertainty that comes after school. In school there's timetables, and set days for set things, but after school, I have to get a job (I've never had one!!!) and actually pull my own weight. I'm also fearful of whether I will get to do the job I want to or not :-\

3. My first few preferences are (I've already written them up because I'm SO pumped!):
Medical Science & Medicine (Bachelor, Masters) at Monash University
Biomedical Science (Bachelor) at Monash University
Biomedical Science / Science (Double degree - Bachelors) at Monash University
So I think you can kind of get the gist that I want to be a doctor haha :P

Looking forward to reading this again at the end of the year and seeing how my interests compare! Although I highly doubt they will change at all :)
2016-17 (VCE): Biology, HHD, English, Methods, Specialist, Chemistry

2018-22: Bachelor of Biomedical Science @ Monash Uni

1. I can't wait to finally finish school after so long. Uni also sounds really cool because you can do whatever subjects you want (bio for life).

2. Being a shy nerd I'm scared I won't make any friends since I've heard you have to go out of your way to kindle friendship.

3.
Science chancellors @ Melbourne (lmao this is so unlikely but I'll put it down for the hell of it)
MBBS @ Monash (another Hail Mary given how much I suck at the UMAT)
Biomed @ Melbourne (finally something achievable haha)
After enjoying bio so much last year I kinda want to do genetics research or MD or DVM.

What makes you prefer biomed at Monash over Melbourne?

Most excited about:

-The freedom of uni. I can't wait until I'm able to choose subjects, which are of genuine interest to me. I'm also looking forward to escaping the toxic nature of high school (marks, rankings, ATAR, etc)

Most Fearful of:

-That I'm moving closer to becoming an 'adult.' While it's exciting to have freedom and independence, it's also daunting to move beyond the secure sphere of high school.

Preferences:

1) Bachelor of Arts at Unimelb. This course seems really appealing to me. It provides lots of freedom to explore potential career prospects.

2) Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Law (Honours) at Monash. This seems like the dream course to me. Legal was/is my favourite subject at high school. I'd love to study law. But I'm worried about being too boxed in with  this course.

Do you think you'll stay in contact with them after high school?

I notice a trend. ;)

Assuming they're offered, that is. ;)

If it's any consolation, uni will be full of shy nerds. ;D You just have to find them.

Absolutely. Is there anything in particular that's frightening for you about adulting (trust me, I feel you)?

Nice! Do I gather correctly from that that you're concerned about being boxed in with Arts/Laws at Monash, but not Arts at Melbourne? Could you explain that a little further? :)

What sort of subjects will you be looking at?

I'd really like to study Linguistics at Uni. It's such a shame that I never picked English Language. In hindsight, I should have done all three English subjects and ditched Methods!  :P   I'm also pretty keen on continuing German at Uni and hopefully go on exchange.

Absolutely. Is there anything in particular that's frightening for you about adulting (trust me, I feel you)?

I can't really pinpoint a main thing about adult life, which scares me. I'd say it's just the whole idea of becoming older and having to make important choices in life. Yeah... So now I think about it, it's probably the 'big decisions' part of adulthood that freaks me out (given that I am so bad at making decision!!).

Nice! Do I gather correctly from that that you're concerned about being boxed in with Arts/Laws at Monash, but not Arts at Melbourne? Could you explain that a little further? :)

I'm just worried about committing to studying Law and absolutely hating it. Therefore, I think that doing a pure Arts course will help me decide what my main interests are and whether law is something I'd like to pursue in the future. But I suppose that I can always move courses if I found that it wasn't for me.  :)
