English Oral SAC - how to include props for my topic?

Hey everyone!

My oral sac for English 3/4 is coming up (okay technically it's not til term 3 but I love english so I wanted to start now ::)) and my topic is 'Why feminism and political correctness have gone too far'. Yes controversial I know :)

I was wondering how I might be able to use props in this topic? I will be debunking in my speech:
  • Male privilege (and how it's not real)
  • the wage gap (and how it's not real)
  • unfair gender job distribution (and why it isn't a problem)
  • gender in today’s society (and how it's become ridiculous - 67+ genders?!)
And then discussing:
  • unfair justice (women spending less time than men in prison for the same crimes)
  • contradictions (of feminism)
  • examples of ‘oppressive behaviour’ (that are actually ridiculous)
  • If feminism was really about equality, then... (examples of actual equality)

Any ideas for props would be great!!! Thanks so much :)

Do you need to use props? I think projecting graphs and statistics that support your point of view using a PowerPoint would be more effective.

I was thinking I could just use a powerpoint, but I was pondering whether I could use props to make my presentation more effective somehow. Like maybe it would give me a little edge over the rest of my class?

I don't see how you could use props unless you want to use a human male to demonstrate some aspect of gender inequity that benefits women.

I don't see how you can use props, other than using images or a powerpoint to help illustrate your point. Using graphs and stats on an interactive whiteboard (if your school has one) could help enhance your presentation.

Cool, thanks zhen :) Yep my school has interactive whiteboards so I'll be using those for my powerpoint presentation!

Just make sure not to just read off your powerpoint. I'd recommend you to just have headings on your powerpoints to indicate the parts you're discussing and images to show evidence. Just make sure you don't have chunks of text on your powerpoint, because that makes it really unengaging and bland, as when someone does that it seems like their just reading off the powerpoint.

Hmm ok. But what if I have a list of statistics on the ppt and I read them and go into more detail as I speak? Would that be good or should I just stick to graphs + images on the powerpoint?

I'd say that it's fine as long as 75% of what you're saying isn't on the powerpoint
