Hi all,

I was just wondering how to go about doing the "national study" essay in the exam. I know historical detail is required, but would it be necessary for us to have historian's quotes to support our response?

Hey there! It is not necessary to include historians quotes, but that doesn't mean that its not a good idea! Quotes count AS historical detail, and can help to boost the overall sophistication of a response. HOWEVER do not go overboard. Don't just provide a list of interpretations and historians opinions - you are being assessed on your own judgements, not how well you can parrot a historian, thus ONLY use them to support your own judgement, not to form the basis of your essay :)

Hope this helps!
