What do you love most about AN?

I'm not a paid staff member or anything - I just adore this community so much I want a place for us all to fangirl about it 

Here goes:

I love our nerdiness... how so many of us who probably don't fit in too well with "normal" people (hahahahaha xD) can find common ground and belonging here. I mean like, we all wanted to be fkn marine biologists. We're all obsessed with history or chemistry jokes. We'd all prefer to read textbooks or spend time on AN than crash a party. We all spend way too long on deep existential questions, or fighting over the necessity of the Oxford comma. Probably not all, but... y'know. We're on the same wavelength.

I love how supportive everyone is. Everyone cares about everyone else and you just know that no matter how stressed you are, erryone got yo' back. I feel like I can just... instantly trust anyone that's really into AN? Next to an internet culture of trolling and anger and hate, AN feels like pure love. Maybe I'll share some stories of how AN's saved my life sometime.

I love how we're destroying the status quo of education inequality and money-grabbing businesses.

Above all, I love the sheer selflessness and generosity that drives this community: users spending hours posting replies and tips and guides and jokes for no reason beyond... they wanna help.

We just wanna help. That's our forums, as I see them.

What do you love about AN? I'd *love* to hear any stories about what AN's done for you individually!

What do I love about AN? Well aside from the awesome community, it honestly does provide a lot of help through VCE. It is quite unique that an online forum can provide more than just a space for socially awkward people to congregate.

In particular, the resources people have created for particular subjects and the question threads have been invaluable. I remember last year I was struggling with biology after a poor SAC result, trying to figure out how to phrase my answers better so I decided to see if there were any resources on the internet. In the end I found the VCE Biology Resources and I tried some of the tips and tricks they recommended. They worked a treat and definitely helped me achieve my goals last year. I think it is incredibly useful to have this saturation of top students in one place as there is no substitute for the advice of someone who has already done a subject and succeeded in it.

I guess I'm one of the exceptions since I never wanted to be a marine biologist and I hate reading through my textbook. In fact, I hardly read my textbook, I start doing the questions as soon as I can after glancing through the relevant pages and only properly read it if I'm having difficulty with the questions (this is probably a bad habit). Anyway, I like the community and the fact that other year 12 students and past students are willing to help each other out and share resources.

Also reading through textbooks - totally feel you on that one.

What I love about AN?
The support and encouragement everyone offers. It's a place where people who may feel ostracised or different in their school communities can come together and get a bit of camaraderie and friendship going and find people who are similar to them And it's a platform that lets you chat to other people going through the same thing, and lets you connect with people from different schools and all that, which is pretty grouse.

AN has made me some really great friends who I chat to on a daily basis, and has given me some friendships that have helped me through some really tough times.

An extremely high proportion of the most amazing people I know are from ATAR Notes. I love them all dearly.

I just love how accepting everyone is.

I used to mainly help around the Biology boards.  I thought it'd be weird to go on the normal discussion boards and talk to the regulars -- like it's a closed group. Nooope -- everybody was more than willing to talk!

This even extends beyond the website alone now. One AN member (you know who you are ) always messages me on Facebook whenever lectures are about to be released to ensure I get a spot. Another AN members (you also know who you are ) tags me in various doggo memes, which I greatly appreciate. Just stuff like this -- it's not just ATAR Notes then everything else. ATAR Notes is a part of everything else.

I've also had a fair few people on VCE Discussion Space ask if I'm Calebark, which is kinda cool. I assume because I post Bio/Phys resources, and that they must recognize my writing style, as this turtle DP obviously isn't me

It's awesome going to a forum where awesome people are offering their own time and knowledge in order to help you. I first came here from my Physics teacher who was told about AN by happyphysicsland. The Physics class is using the AN book as a study guide

I'll be honest, I came here with the intention of only wanting my essays marked. Just to make posts in order to get enough essays marked. But over the course of these few months I've come to really love this community. Whether it's the quality banter between the mods or the help I'm able to offer to my fellow students. I love being able to help others now, I know the feeling of "oh shit what do I do, my exams in a few days helpmepls" and that feeling when Jamon flies to your rescue by marking your Creative Essay or Mod A essay. I love seeing people get help to some obscure Maths question as well as being able to help people who need help with Maths as well

This forum is something special. It's not founded on reciprocity rather generosity. There's almost never disrespect (expect for that teacher impersonator ) and everyone's cool with each other.

Shoutout to all the AN staff and all active contributors You make this place what it is. Wouldn't be possible without ya'll

  I'm glad it's turned out this way. I love the atmosphere and the people. I've established awesome relationships and gotten smarter too.

I think the idea of this kind of organization dedicated to helping students through the worst/hardest part of their school experience is great. I love the respect that everyone has for each other and the helping attitude of everyone, especially the mods !
