Drew, scanned, and then traced in Adobe Illustrator :)

this is just my thoughts- but I think logo 1 would look pretty cool if can n infuse the orange used in logo 4 :D

Here I go. Given your brief, your best options will be #1 or #2. The reason is that these logos really communicate the night circus part of the brief and more accurately captures the fantasy interest of the target audience. The other two logos do not communicate this very well, so they should be eliminated right away.
About aesthetics, aesthetics is nothing of the logo does not fulfill the brief, but when you have narrowed you logos to the ones that do fulfill the brief, then you should consider aesthetics. After all, you get marks less for the best looking logo in VisComm but more marks for fulfilling the design brief.
