Russian Revolution Holiday Homework
(1/1)
laurenmayer:
Unfortunately my Revs teacher has been away for the past month and will not be returning to school until the third week of term 3.
Our class had a substitute - but she was not a History teacher so it was difficult to seek assistance.
I've already been writing my own summary notes and answering paragraph questions from the textbook, but, I was wondering, what holiday homework did anyone who is doing the Russian Revolution (in the second half of the year) get for the holidays?
My teacher wasn't able to send us any homework or homework study so I'm worried I'm going to go back to school completely unprepared!

Hi laurenmayer!
Sorry to hear about the difficulties you've been experiencing. I hope you're enjoying Revs! I did Russia as my second revolution (China as the first), but I did the subject in 2015, so with the old study design.
For me, the most useful thing I ever did in Revs was practice pieces - preparing for the sort of questions that would be in the exam. So I'd recommend that you try doing that over the holidays (and also make sure you practice for the first revolution, too!). Practice means you'll get quicker and quicker at writing your responses, and that means you can fit more into what you write, which is an absolute bonus in Revs :D
That being said, my teacher never actually set us strict holiday homework to do - was just his philosophy (relax in the holidays, work hard in the term). I would, however, just make sure you go over your key dates and evidence, and make sure you have those consolidated in your mind.
I was also really lucky in that I had an awesome class that worked together and helped each other out. So, maybe if you get along well with your classmates, or even if you have a few friends in the class, see if you can swap work and mark & critique each others pieces - I found this actually to be quite useful in helping me improve my marks :) Also collaborating with them - working together to make sample responses that are top quality, is a good idea.
I think it would also be a smart move to read over the study design :)
I hope some of this has helped, and I wish you all the best! Don't hesitate to ask any more questions if you have them :D
