Transferring from Monash to Melbourne (1st year BSc)

Hey guys,

I'm looking at a mid year transfer from Monash university to the UoM. I've just finished my first semester and got a WAM of 70.5. I have some unique circumstances however, as before this I did not complete my year 12, but I completed a Certificate IV in Science. I met all the prerequisites for the UoM after the Cert IV, besides having methods 3/4, which I just completed an equivalent to in my first semester. I was wondering my chances of being accepted and if so, how would the credits be transferred? Would I need to re-complete semester one?

I've also heard they look at prior study. As I mentioned, I don't have an ATAR, but I got a score of 91 in my certificate IV. I also submitted a SEAS application, but I'm not sure how much of that is taken into account.

Thanks.

- Joseph

Hey, I've been in exactly the same boat :) I transferred to Melbourne after three semesters at another uni, and I'm still graduating on time! I assume they let you in, so you would have (or if not already, do that now!) submitted an advanced standing application where you list all the subjects you did which you want to receive credit for. It is really all up to them, and they decide what to give you. In the meantime, your subject choices this semester should be anything that gets you somewhere in second year if you don't get much credit.

Hope this helps :)
