Urgent - Past UOM Transfer Students Please Help

Hey guys,

So uni is starting on Monday and I have transferred from Monash. At Monash, the accounting subject I took, ACC1011 is apparently equivalent to ACCT10002 (UOM). The thing is, ACCT10002 requires ACCT10001 as a prerequisite. I understand I will most likely be granted credit for ACCT10002 but what is the deal with ACCT10001? Will I have to undertake this subject? Or will I be exempted as I already took the Monash equivalent of ACCT10002?

I would love a response as I am confused about which subjects I'm taking and this is stressing me out!

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I've tried so many times to reach ask.unimelb but they are so slow and I have not received a response since submitting the request the day I got the offer (and uni is starting so soon!) I tried submitting a credit transfer application but had to cancel it stupidly as I wanted to edit it and now I can't send a new application. I tried the live chat thing too and they were pretty much useless, giving me generic answers.

In my experience (in the science faculty) you won't need to do ACCT10001 if you have been granted advanced standing for ACCT10002.

But I suggest you find someone to talk to in the department (not stop 1) tomorrow.

My guess would be that unless it is a subject that is pre-req for later subjects that are core for your major, your fine. Check out some of the example course plans and see if that helps to clarify that! Also, I know that some commerce majors that end with particular accreditation have dead set subjects you must take, but again not certain if that would apply to you. I agree its best to speak to someone in you faculty for a quicker response but if you are still stuck try stop 1 but go as soon as it opens in the morning to avoid the crowds!

ps. lol couldn't help but be a snoop, why was commerce/arts at monash so bad?

Thanks for your response, that's a bit of a relief!

I gave up on waiting for my enquiry to be answered and emailed the department of accounting instead.

I have a lot of reasons but they're personal to me so I hope I don't deter anyone from coming to Monash haha

But mostly it was the fact that Monash was way too far for me (I'm from the westside). Also, Arts to me personally was a horrible experience. I found it really uncomfortable especially because I chose to do Politics. I'm not really politically aligned myself but it annoyed me that almost everyone was left-wing and had the same opinions. I pretty much stayed mute during all the tutes because I was too intimidated and that was kinda depressing. But that's expected of any politics class, it's not Monash that had bad teaching or anything. I'm trying hard to not make it seem like Monash was a bad uni lol, will probably remove that comment from my signature
