Study Score for Further

I would like to propose a serious discussion. I don't have much hope left in further maths after receiving a 58% in one of my sacs but I would like to know how getting graded assessments translate into a study score.

For example: This year I think I will get a B+ and two A+ for Further. How would this translate into a study score? Low 40's? High 30's?

You have posted quite a number of very similar threads now regarding your 58% and Further Maths. I would encourage you to bump your existing post (and/or make amendments) rather than continuing to post threads that relate to the same issue. Don't worry now, but for future reference.

Now, in terms of your question, your actual numerical/grade achievements in Further Maths are (in a way) irrelevant, because all that matters is your rank. SACs contribute 34% to the study score, and the two exams cover the rest. So in theory, what study score you get is entirely dependent on your SAC rank and your exam performance.

If you get A+'s on both exams, I think you'd float somewhere around the 40s range depending on your performance relative to the others who received an A+. You have to remember that Further is extremely competitive, so the goal is to minimise mark loss in both exams.

I screwed one of my SACs pretty badly. My rank wasn't too good for someone aiming high and was in a weaker cohort. Ended up with a 41 as I did really well on exam 1 and pretty good on exam 2, so just do well on the exams and you'll be fine. I dropped 2 marks on exam 1 and about 8 on exam 2.

Hey!

First you need let go of that 58% SAC mark - I know that is easier said than done but I promise one SAC will not make or break your study score!

What matters is the rest of your upcoming SACs and most importantly the two end of year examinations. You need to really focus on the areas you are struggling in and aim to maximise every mark in the exams. Work out the reason why you scored 58% in that SAC and make sure you understand how to answer every question correctly. Perhaps ask your teacher for more questions to do on that particular topic or get yourself a Checkpoints if you haven't already done so.

Please don't feel like there's no hope because the exams are the things that count towards your study score above all else!  8)
