Extended Response Sub-headings!!

I have always thought it correct to do sub-headings (as in dot points straight from the syllabus) for the extended response/ case study question, however, today I was told that a lecturer said not to do them because it makes it look too much like a Business Report!  :-\

Can someone please give me a definite answer as to whether we put them in or not?

Thanks!  ;)

i'm a little confused as to what you mean by the 'extended response/case study question,' but i'm going to assume you're talking about the section 4 essay. there's no set format for that question, that is, if you want to do subheadings - do it! point form would be pushing it though, as that's more of a business report kind of thing, but subheadings should be good. it's not so much the structure, it's more of what you're writing about. :-)

Hi there Rhiannon,

For the extended response section - some teachers and schools advocate for you to write it in a business report format. This is too ensure you are focusing on the dotpoints being asked and in a style/terminology of business studies.

I on the other hand was always told to never write it like this as it constricts the essay too much and doesn't let me talk about other things that may be relevant. Whereas some others in my class were told to write in a business report format to focus on the question at hand. You can of course mix the two together and integrate the headings/subheadings to enhance the clarity of your writing. There is no right or wrong here, just whatever you do keep it consistent and choose a structure that matches your style of writing.

If you would like me to see your report/essays are going definitely chuck it in the marking thread!! :)

Hope this helps!
