Advanced standing application

Hey guys,

I apologize for having so many questions but my transfer from Monash to Melbourne has been the most stressful thing ever.

I tried to submit an advanced standing application the day I received the offer but cancelled it to edit it. Then I couldn't submit another one so I submitted an enquiry to Stop 1. I don't understand why it's been FOURTEEN DAYS and NO ONE has gotten back to me. I've tried using the online chat with Stop 1, contacted the subject coordinator to try to get a requisite waiver and I've even tried to update the enquiry as well as send another one.

The person on the online chat told me submitting the enquiry was the right thing to do and I should just wait.

Why is this process so slow? They said they'd aim to get this done before classes started and week 1 is already ending!

Maybe I'm just being impatient. For anyone with experience with advanced standing at unimelb, is it usually this frustrating?

I urgently need credit for one subject in particular - intro to microeconomics (I did the equivalent at Monash). As I intend on majoring in Economics, I will be delayed if I don't complete intro to macroeconomics this semester.

Should I see Stop 1 in person? Will that even help? I found a lot of bad reviews for Stop 1 online so I've been reluctant!

Any responses would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! I hear you with your frustration, this stuff at peak time takes a ridiculously long time and it frankly sucks that the infrastructure isnt there to allow these applications to get through quicker.
In the short term I would (if there is any left this week), go to lectures/classes for the subject and times and locations can be found here: https://sws.unimelb.edu.au/2017/ They actually do encourage students go to those classes lectures while they are waiting for their advanced standing to be approved.
At this point I would definitely say heading to stop 1 could help, and would suggest heading in tomorrow morning AS SOON as they open. At the moment they are running two different drop in sessions, one at the normal front entrance where course planners are located in 'pods' to give more advice type info, then the second down the back in the 'gallery' where stuff to do with enrolments are handled. That queue is substantially quicker and may be the place to go.
At the moment stop 1 is swamped, but if you are savvy and get there early it may be a big help. (or not who knows, my personal experiences besides shitty wait times have been positive)
Good luck!!

Thank you so much, you've been so helpful!
You seem to know a lot about the university despite being in the same year as me and I'm so lost hahahaha
