How to structure a high level intro?

Hey guys,
one of the weakest points of my writing at the moment is my introductions. I'm never sure how much information to put in them, and as a result they're often either too short, or basically a body paragraph. Does anyone have any pointers for how much to develop ideas in the introduction? I know everyone says, "Introduce your ideas in the introduction and then develop them in the body paragraphs", but I've always struggled here. Alternatively, if anyone knew where i could find some really high level introductions then i would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

I think it's good to have some context and background information on the text/s while posing a philosophical question pertinent to human nature and related to the topic. Then you can move onto signposting the ideas you will discuss in your main body paragraphs and ending your introduction with your contention. Generally a longer introduction gives the illusion of having a greater amount of depth and sophistication in your essay, but a short and sharp introduction can work in some cases with the right approach.
