oBikes - should they be in our cities?

If you've been in Melbourne or Sydney lately, you may have seen yellow bikes around - some in places where you wouldn't think to see a bicycle.
These bikes are part of a bicycle sharing system called oBike. To use one, you simply need to download an app, pay a fee, and locate a bike. Once you are done with the bike, you can park and lock it in a safe and legal place so that it can be used by whoever wants to.
The thing is, people have not parked these bikes in safe and legal places. They have ended up in rivers, trees... and some say they are a "visual nuisance".

So, what do you think of this bicycle sharing system?

I feel like its a very good idea... on paper. In terms of practicality... not so much.

Good idea, but had an extremely poor execution.
That being said I don't agree with the blame being all on Obikes as Melbourne Council agreed to this proposal and should have noticed issues such as the obikes in Yarra to come up.
Jack of all trades, master of none.
Hence why i'm in all these different threads and boards.

wow this seems like a great initiative, it is a shame people had to abuse the system.
