Can you do the chemistry exam in pencil or does it all have to be in pen. Or is it like calculations can be in pencil but short answer in pen?

You can do it all in either pencil or pen.
If you use pencil, I would recommend a dark-inked pencil like a 2B. As the exams are scanned and if you use a lighter colour pencil, your response may not show well in the scanned copy. Thus potentially losing marks because the examiner can't see your responses.

Does this also apply to physics?

The instructions on the exams indicate that blue or black pen should be used for writing

That being said they still accept pencil, but I guess in a nutshell.
*Workings/Calculations: Pencil (Like a 2B)
*Short-answer: Pen
I can confidently say this or else I would have gotten 0 for both my further maths exams, since I did them all in pencil.

They prefer pen but you certainly can still use pencil. Just make sure that it is dark enough that it can still be easily read when scanned.
