The difference between Year 11 and Year 12 Literature
(1/1)
rwaring:
So I have done lit. this year, and have done very well at, and plan on doing it again next year. However, just lurking this board, it looks as if the course for year 12 is vastly different to the one in Year 12.
Basically, all we have done with our works is look at them as a whole and simply analyze them. We have only done one extract analysis - and no poetry at all. As such I am wondering if the coursework we have done is going to leave me underprepared for next year...and what sort of work I need to do to put myself in the box seat for next year?
Eriny:
In year 12 you have to know your texts better and concentrate more on writing close readings. I guess, in order to prepare yourself it's a good idea to read your texts early and write as much as you can (even journaling or writing letters and so on is helpful in this regard). Also, it's a good idea to read widely as well, if you have the time.

My teacher structured our lit course in year 11 so it followed on to year 12. The assessment we did was very similar to some of the things done in year 12.
I agree with Eriny, and to prepare it's a good idea to read the texts and perhaps every now and then write down a few opinions you have on certain events, characters etc. I think this is a good idea because these initial opinions you have will be solely your own and will be unbiased by other sources such as teaches, other readings and classmates.
