The research question
-this is the question which you are hoping your experiment answers

The aim:
-succinct
-statement which tells the reader what you hope to get out of doing the experiment
-typical format:  To [investigate/examine] the [impact of/ relationship between/ effect of] [variable] [on/and/on] [variable]

The hypothesis:
-should be based on research you have done
-this is the relationship you expect to see between the IV and DV
-this is a statement , not a question

Variables:
The point of an experiment is to gain information about the relationship between variables.

Dependent variable: this variables changes, and you measure the changes.
-You are hoping the change is due to the IV, but EVs may also affect it.
-it belongs on the y-axis of a graph

Independent variable: You change this variable to see what impact it has on the DV
-it belongs on the x-axis of a graph

Extraneous variable: You don't like this variable, eliminate the EVs that you can when designing your experiment
-it may impact the DV, which makes it harder to know what impacts are because of change in the IV
-control these, so that they impact your results less. If wind might impact your projectile's motion, do the experiment inside if possible
-sometimes you can't get rid of it, but you can make it so that the impact each time is the same (if you're investigating range of the projectile based on speed,  control the height from which it is launched and lands by making it the same each time)
-sometimes you can't rid rid of it, and you can't keep it the same, discuss the impact that this has on your results, and use equations if possible to get an idea of how much it impacted the DV
-100% definitely mention these in your discussion
