Velox:
I took 1/2 before 3/4 and it doesn't really help. If you are motivated enough, the concepts are relatively simple to learn. Several of my friends didn't take the 1/2, and have all scored A/A+ on SACs in 3/4 (me= all A+ :P ).

edit: Thinking further, I can't actually remember a time where I needed specific knowledge learned in the 1/2. Though I'm not the best example as I live for this stuff.
