What do you mean?
Were we not meant to talk about different types of conflict?
I spoke about men vs. women and barbarian vs. corinthian values as well
Is this wrong??
What else would you talk about?!
It's not wrong, I think it's good that you addressed the 'crucial' part of the prompt!! It's just that only one of my paragraphs really addressed the passion/reason part of the prompt and I felt like I didn't emphasise the conflict part enough. Most of my friends did P1 passion P2 reason P3 sophrosyne.

Doesn't that completely ignore the word "crucial" though?
I'm so confused :P because I thought they worded it that way on purpose to trip people up into writing a classic passion vs. reason essay (that literally everyone who did medea would have prepared)
That might just be me though

for the comparative essay me and my friend discussed it afterwards and it literally felt like we wrote the exact same essay!! should i be worried?? because we are in the same class, had the same tutor and we had the exact same paragraphs. im worried we also had the same evidence, like our essay wouldn't be word for word the same obviously but  we both chose a topic that we'd done together and were confident in. Im just worried about plagiarism? like does that count?

how did everyone go with no sugar? The second prompt about joe, I stuffed it and wrote two body paragraphs that were borderline incoherent.

Nope, I got the same impression. I wrote a passion/reason essay a few days ago and I chose to write BPs on other themes but it was just the way I wrote about the other themes that made me unsure.

Assessors only get one essay from each school so there's no chance of both of your essays ending up in the same marking pile!

I don't know how well I did... done anyone have this feeling as well?

I feel you - it's hard being the first year when no-one really knows how it's going to play out but as  John O Callaghan once said, 'The what ifs and should haves will eat your brain.' So in that sense, I guess we just have to accept what we get, although I believe that we all hopefully did better than expected :)

Best Wishes for the rest of your exams!

nice!

Hey mishs! I did it that way with a para passion overriding reason, then reason overriding passion, and then sophrosyne.
I don't think I really strayed from the essay topic bc i defined what i meant by crucial conflict within my contention ( I said these traits are in conflict themselves, but don't have to be as they are not mutually exclusive).
But either way would have worked I think, just because the essay prompt was so open to interpretation, as long as you defined what it meant.

I haven't thought about it as deeply as all of you.
But the way I see the prompt: 'In the Medea, the crucial conflict is between reason and passion.' Discuss.

There are so many different ways you could attack it.
-As some users have done you could focus on reason, passion and sophrosyne. The effects each had on the conflict.
-You could focus on the "crucial" part of the prompt and argue that men vs women and barbarian vs civilised are more important conflicts in the play.

I would stop worrying and saying and/or thinking about what ifs, if i did this, only i did that or this, oh i should have done, etc.
It is waste of time. You have other exams coming up. Focus on that.
If you really want to know the answer to your thoughts. Wait for the assessor report to come out on it.
But you can all argue/discuss which way and what to do for the prompt. But you won't know till the report comes out.

In my opinion, I don’t think something that small even matters. If it does then we can have marks taken off together.  :)

I don't think it really matters if you do or don't explicitly say 'Denise Walker's article published on the *date* contends...' just as long as you recognise that the comment was in response to the idea proposed in the main article. Not that it makes it right but all year I never explicitly mentioned the date of publication in any of my LA essays and my teacher (who I highly respect the opinion of and is by no means a lenient marker) never deducted any marks for it nor mentioned it as something I must be doing to score highly. My point being is that I don't think you'll lose any marks for it, and if I'm wrong then take comfort from knowing that I'm in the same position as you. Still be proud of your efforts!
