3/4 without 1/2 physics?
monicak:
Well, my friend is picking up 3/4 physics in year 12 without completing 1/2! :o She has been doing quite a bit of work during the holidays to catch up. Is it even possible to pick up such a subject? I'd think that it'd be extremely difficult, especially understanding all the new concepts without having any guidance/assistance from a teacher.

i did 3/4 physics in yr11 without having done 1/2. to be honest, i found it reasonably difficult, but certainly far from impossible. i wouldn't recommend it - i grossly underachieved in physics, i should've got a much higher study score. basically you have to do a fair bit more work to understand topics. everyone's taught new things in 3/4 physics, but people who've done 1/2 have much better background knowledge than those who haven't, and it does make a fair difference.
cara.mel:
They'll only need to know unit 2, which basically gets built on for unit 3. Then unit 4 kind of stands alone from everything else.
To be honest I think it would be easily catch up-able because a lot of the stuff is repeated, but yeah, depends on how good she is :P
If she can do straight line motion, newtons laws, series and parallel circuits I *think* off the top of my head that would be enough to start U3 on :)
Collin Li:
Yes, Unit 1 is completely unnecessary.
