Depends on the circumstances.
If it's urgent, then I will go use variants of the Pomodoro method. Try for 15 minutes, stop, take a break (e.g. walk somewhere, drink a glass of water, check my phone), get back to it. I extend that as time progresses to an hour.
If it's not urgent, I might multitask until I feel ready to do the work I've allocated myself. (Basically, I bore myself as quickly as I can and will end up studying.)
Sometimes, I'll write out a to-do list and work from there, encouraging myself by using music or a motivational video before I study.
Over the years, my methods have changed a lot. These are only three of the methods I can remember off the top of my head.
