Are the NIE UMAT practice exam books good for prep??

hi guys,
i am sitting the UMAT this year, and i have a few NIE 2014 and 2013 books. On ATAR notes and other forums, people recommend that MedEntry is the best course to do to prepare for the UMAT.
the Medentry courses are so expensive. do you think i have a chance with just using online resources and the NIE practice books?
and if you did do a MedEntry course, what package did you select?
i just getting a bit worried!

I sat the UMAT in 2015 so a little while ago, but I used just 2013 and 2015 books from NIE as well as the 1 day session, ended up being about $500 for the day session plus the 2015 books. Using just these I got a 96 and was one of the only people I knew who finished the exam within the time given, as there's a heap of time trial tests. I would say it is definitely doable!

I didn't do NIE, but did medentry instead. I chose the online learning package (it used to be called distance), which didn't include the two day workshop and costs about $400. I thought the other packages were too pricy, and frankly I was little lazy and liked to stay at home. Some people said the 2-day workshop is really good, but it's possible to do well without attending them. They're just a good starting point. Also, there's a group discount if you can find a bunch of friends.

But in the end, don't stress too much about which prep course you choose.

I stared preparing for the UMAT around 3 months before. During this time, I did around a half of the drills and 10 full length practice exams.
