TSFX summer school 2018

Has anyone gone to any TSFX summer school/lectures recently?

I am particularly interested in the chem and biology sessions, and want first-hand reviews plz.

Thoughts??

spectroscopy:
theyre pretty good i think. I personally found the pre-exam ones to be the most useful becuase over a couple of days you can get a super high quality refresher course on the whole years content. the summer ones are good too but they aren't quite as worth it if you haven't already done a bit of work for the subject. I personally forgot most of the stuff in the summer school pretty early on in the year, but the pre-exam session was awesome. It might be worth it. it definitely won't negatively affect you in any way other than feeling like you've wasted a few days of your holidays LMFAO. For science subjects I would probably lean more towards going but for math i would lean against it.

The qualityof TSFX lecturers can vary wildly and they often just read off the books/notes you get with the lecture. Personally I barely touched the TSFX notes after going to the lecture even if I tried to. It’s a high quality overview of the course and the lecturer is always there to answer your question but overall, I think its a waste of time and money COMPARED to atarnotes. (if you get an atarnotes lecturer who takes the subject seriously and doesn’t bludge the lecture). Most people can’t pay attention properly for the full 6 hours of the lecture especially if it is stacked amongst other lectures which is something else to consider.

My friend and I ended up giving the TSFX summer program a go...and I think the advice was spot on.

Quality/teaching style of Lecturers did vary, but for the better...The first Chem lecturer (Beth?) was a little boring, did the job. The second asian lecturer was pretty *amazing*. Luckily we had her for both part 2 and 3 sessions

Notes were good, but a few typos  :o Only other downside was the long session times - 3hours straight each day, with only two 5 min breaKs is a loooong time to concentrate  : 8)  but that's probably my own problem

Sci-hopeful, how did you find the Bio lecture? Which lecturers did you have? Did you feel the need to write much down in addition to the notes, or is it more sit/listen/read kind thing?

 (Also were you allowed food in there)
