University changing my timetable :/

Hey guys,
Just wondering why the UoM has changed one of my classes without prior notice? Wondering if it's because they cancelled the class I originally had as it kind of screws over my initial timetable. It's the chemistry for biosciences practical on tuesday that has been changed to thursday. I'm not very happy that they've changed the practical slot imo as I would've put my comp lecture to 2:15 if I knew this were to happen lol.
Thanks :)

Yeah unis like to do stuff like that. I walked into a selective dance unit and stayed for a while because they changed my unit classroom in the morning  and I wasn't award

Very embarrassing, I wish they would be more timely and direct when they make changes like that.

It is unfortunate that this has happened to you. By the sound of it there weren't enough students enrolled in that time slot to make worthwhile to run. There isn't too much you can do about it.

Although, looking at your timetable you have a pretty intense semester, 4-5 hours straight is not recommended, it can have a severe impact on your learning. I would recommend maybe shifting some tutorials to take the ease off.

Yeah true. I wasn't keen on having 4-5 hours straight however I'm usually at work 5 hours straight anyway. Only thing I would have a problem is being tired but I can stay concentrated for quite long periods of time. Also the schedule is the way it is because of those annoying streams in calc and comp and limited lecture/tutorial/class slots for chemistry for biosciences. I'm not really keen on being at the uni till late imo as that just leaves less time for me to do stuff when I get home haha and I'll probably take tuesday off now but was hoping to take thursday off. Imo I would probably also have to change most classes if I wanted to change tutorials around but might change my workshop for comp to thursday now idk what do you reckon??

Thanks again for the reply :)

Damn that actually sounds like it would've sucked. Imo the uni should really tell us before registration opens as I might have been able to create a completely different timetable prior to it opening yesterday :/

Thanks for replying btw :))

Damn, sorry that happened to you, that would be annoying :(

Also have a question somewhat related to this, I also got that email about probability, but my timetable looks exactly the same as it did before. Based on what I saw, all the pracs were full for probability, and I think they added a few more in. Could this just be a glitch from them adding in more? (Really hoping it doesn’t change). Thanks

If you still have your initial timetable as a picture somewhere then try comparing it with the new timetable and see if anything has changed. My timetable was changed immediately after I got the email :/ Now I have to wait till the 20th for more class slots to open so I can change about 5 different lecture slots and a practical to make my timetable better :(

They did this to me and now I have two conflicting lectures, and no other lecture slots are open. What do I do? :(

Is there a lecture slot opening on the 20th? Because if you hover over the unavilable slots it'll tell you how many spots they'll open up on the 20th. Personally, I have to change a bunch of stuff around to make it work. You could try calling up and asking, seeing as the uni is screwing you over :( Good luck though and hopefully yours gets fixed :)

All of the other lecture stream options create other conflicts, so it's really hard to fix! But I asked around, and apparently, I can just go to either lecture and watch the other online since neither have attendance hurdles, so I guess it will work out somehow! Thanks a bunch!

Yep, they’re changing one lecture time, moving it to the one day I don’t have any classes 😡😡😡
I pretty much had the perfect timetable and was planning on attending everything, but 5 days/wk with 1hr+ commute is just too much (especially since I’m doing 3 subjects) so looks like I’m going to become a chronic lecture capture user again

Ahh damn that sucks. At least you can use the capture system (hopefully they remember to turn it on lol) cause practicals I would be forced to be there. However, they opened up slots for my chem and bio practicals today and I changed it to tuesday so i pretty much get tuesday off but am still angry cause they didn't change it back :(( :((
