Have you started your Depth Studies?

(1/1)

Hey SAC fam!
Just curious, have you started your depth studies yet??
We're still doing textbook work on continuity and change atm and have a half yearly exam in week 10/11 that's just on this topic.
Just trying to gauge (based on where everyone else is) whether my class is on the right track.

Hey there,
My class is also up to continuity and change (we did our depth study belief systems and ideologies last year). However, I don't have a SAC half yearly so we're not starting our focus study on China until next term. Our structure is a bit weird because we'll finish off our syllabus dot points on continuity and change, do our depth study (social inclusion and exclusion) and then do our focus study on China.

My school likes to structure things weirdly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey!

This time last year, we were still doing Social and Cultural Continuity and Change because our teacher put a lot of emphasis on our PIPs. We spent the entire first term (as in the first term of Year 12/fourth term following preliminary) working on our PIPs. Term 2 was on the core topic and we had an in class task at the end of the term (wasn't an official half yearly exam). Term three was mainly our first depth study (Social Conformity and Non-conformity). Since we didn't have time to squeeze in our second depth study (Belief Systems and Ideologies) so for our trial exam, we only did the core topic and two sets of Social Conformity and Non-conformity questions. We didn't have an assessment task for Belief Systems and didn't even finish the topic on time (had to teach myself the topic during the weeks leading up to the HSC)

TL;DR: It's completely normal to still be studying your first topic at this point :) Your teacher will definitely dedicate a lot of time for your PIP during this term.

Hey, everyone!

My school is doing some strange structuring too. I did PIPs for all of term 4 last year and this term, we did Belief Systems and Ideologies. We are starting Continuity and Change after our half yearlys so I think my school is a bit behind on the content but I think it’ll be okay hopefully  :'( :'( :'( Good luck with your exams though! I’m sure you guys will do heaps well  :)
