Hello,
Im in year 11, i only know how to write language analysis for opinion piece and im not really sure how to write it for a news article. I attached the article. Pls tell me how to write it. Also i think the article is a news article without the writers opinion. Pls tell me if im wrong also im wondering what the audience is. I thought the audience would be previous year 12 or current year 12. Pls tell me that too. This is what i wrote so far:

A news article, appearing in the ‘Surfer’s Paradise Press’, was written by Jordan King in response to the increasing and conflicting debate about the impact of schoolies on locals. The piece is entitled ‘UNWANTED PESTS – SCHOOLIES UNDER THREAT’, linking closely to the subject material and address to the younger generations who are the target audience for this piece. An informative and enthusiastic tone is maintained throughout the piece, depicting the negative damage schoolies are causing on the neighbourhood.

The Title “UNWANTED PESTS – SCHOOLIES UNDER THREAT,” is in a bold and capitalised text to attract audience. The words “SCHOOLIES UNDER THREAT,” are direct, succinct and outlines the purpose of the article whilst targeting the younger generations. Upon glancing at the title, the young men and woman would immediately be knowledgeable of the subject and thus be interested in the article. As past or current year 12 students, they would be coerced to continue reading the article, as it is a topic of interest to students. King opens her report by highlighting the overwhelming figure of students “for their region alone,” to support and give logic to his statements. The writer is trying to use the fact that there are approximately “60,000,” students to engender a sense of fear into the reader. As a result, the readers would take the schoolies incident more seriously and thus be able to understand the concerns of the neighbourhood.  Upon reading the number of “60,000,” students themselves will be shocked and begin to question their method of thinking. They would imagine 60,000 students drunk on the road at night and the negative damage it can cause themselves and the locals. Despite the primary audience being past or present students, they would be subjective to the neighbourhood’s point of view and position themselves with the locals. However, while he is targeting the students, he is also attacking the locals which shown by the “angry Gold Coast residents,”. The writer is trying to stay neutral throughout the piece and not show his opinion. However, he is also trying to demonstrate to both sides the concerns to the other. By referring to the Gold Coast residents as “Angry,” he is trying to describe them as reckless, idiotic and immature. This will cause the students to not be angry with the writer but be thankful to express the concerns of the student and not just attack the students. This will also enable the students to be more understanding of the locals.

Your introduction is good and you have attempted a sound analysis.
 Its great that you recognise the nuance in a factual news report but in this article it is mostly against schoolies.

The author has used many loaded adjectives. You need to figure out what these specifically mean.

Also, the author chooses to quote a concerned local and devotes half of the article to this key stakeholders opinion.

Also, "with the arrival of thousands of teens on mass comes drugs, drunkenness and destruction" is a vital quote within this news article.

I would look at each paragraph chronologically and then structure my response in that way.
