Are mechanical pencils allowed in the HSC?

Hi,

I was wondering, are mechanical pencils allowed in the HSC? I love using them for sketching graphs because they're really precise and produce thinner lines than regular pencils. They also don't need to be sharpened!

Did anyone use mechanical pencils in the HSC? Was there any trouble? Did anyone say anything?
Otherwise, I'd have to start switching to actual pencils for graphing questions to get used to them before HSC comes.

Please help me assuage my doubts.

On the HSC website it says
"You may also bring a ruler, highlighters, pencils (should be at least 2B) and a sharpener, and a bottle of water in a clear bottle."

While it does not specify mechanical pencils specifically, they are allowed =). I used one in the HSC and so did many others. No one said anything.

They don't actually really care what pens or pencils you use as long as they fit the requirements (e.g. No overly thick pencil strokes or green coloured lines).
