Linkage in genetics the code broken question
(1/1)
terassy:
Hello, could someone please help me with this question:
In a plant, purple flower colour dominates over red. Long pollen grains
dominate over short pollen grains.
A)Write down the genotypic and phenotypic ratios of the offspring if heterozygous, purple flowered, long pollen grained plants are crossed with
red flowered, short pollen grained plants.
i) IF THE GENES FOR THE TWO CHARACTERISTICS ARE ON DIFFERENT CHROMOSOMES.
ii) IF THE GENES ARE LINKED. (on the SAME CHROMOSOME)
B) If the offspring from the cross shown in Aii) interbred, what would be the genotypic and phenotypic ratios? (assume no crossing over)
C) If crossing over occurred in B) what differences would be observed in the offspring?
Please help with question B) thank you loads
