Apart from "critically contends" and "passionately asserts" what are some other ways to integrate use of particular tones?

Thanks.

Apart from the structure you've got there, adverb + verb, you could try say something like "verb in a adjective manner". That's confusing, here's some examples.
Examples:
Euripides negatively highlights .... OR.... Euripides highlights in a negative manner the ....
Obama's 2009 inaugural speech encouraged .... OR .... Obama's 2009 inaugural encouraging speech caused ....
The author mocked the government sardonically  .... OR .... Sardonically, the author mocked the government ....

I don't think there's a real right or wrong way to do it. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. There's heaps of different structures you can follow to put in a tone word and verb. Having said this, I am not English expert. Hope this helps :)
