Hey,
I included the praetorian guard in my essays on the changing role of the Princeps as they did influence/effect the emperor’s role and the way they ruled.

You could either answer this question by having a paragraph on each Princeps (Tiberius, Gaius, Caligula, Nero) or by writing it thematically: how their role changed politically (e.g relationship with the senate/their level of activity & contribution), socio-culturally (religion) and militarily (role of army, expansion & consolidation).
