Essay length for crime and options?

So apparently according to NESA the essay for crime should be around 600-800 words and for the options it should be 1000-1200 words

So for all the top legal students out there, what was your word count for crime and the options? Was it around that benchmark, or was it much much more than what is recommended? Just looking for different opinions

I definitely wasn't a top Legal student, but what I did in exams was split my time in a way that would allow me to write a lot more in the Crime and options essays. I think I wrote ~1000 words for Crime, and closer to 1200 for the options essays. This is how I spread my time in trials and HSC:
- MC: 15 mins
- Human rights short answer: 20 mins
- Crime essay: 45 mins
- Options: 50 mins each

You don't have to do this - this is just what I did! Keep in mind we all have different writing speeds and I'm not a particularly fast writer so I needed the extra time for the longer responses.

It says 600, but imo that's way too little to produce a nuanced response to the question. For crime, I've stuck to 950-1000 words; and for options, 1100-1300

Wow yeah that's really good actually - you get to spend more time on your option essays too so that you can add more info and stuff.

That's quite true! Alright I think I'll follow that range for both the crime and options essay; your range and fantasticbeasts' range are approximately the same so that's good
