Flame test VS AAS

Hey everyone,

For this question 'compare AAS and flame test as methods for metal analysis' I was wondering if anyone could help me if I'm on the right track on how i'm answering it? I talk about:

-Flame test is qualitative but AAS in quantitative
-Flame test is useful for identifying what cations are present in a metal salts but AAS is useful for determining the conc. of metal ions in solution
-Flame test is not that reliable because wire may be contaminated and may emit a flame colour that isn't correct (so test isn't that effective) but AAS is reliable because of the specific wavelength and so other metal ions don't interfere with each other during the process etc...
-They both identify

Not sure if this is right and what more I could add??

Btw I wrote these points on here really briefly.

Thank you  ;D

Hi...
What you have got here is really good!

Do you happen to know how many marks the question is worth? Because if it's only a 3-4 marker, than what you already have is suffice.

If it's a 5-6 marker, add a few more points of comparison. E.g. in what contexts each are used for metal analysis. Or maybe the relative time/cost/experience required to perform each.

Thank you!! Unfortunately I don't know how many marks the question in worth because this is a hand in assignment, so I never really know if what I'm giving is enough... but the word limit for this question is 150 words.

I'll see if I can add the extra stuff though!

Thank you again,

Alsoooo the bit where I talk about the reliability of both methods as the wire in the flame test may be contaminated- do I say this is reliability or accuracy? I'm confused now

Accuracy. Accuracy refers to how far away it is from the true result.
