Hi there,
this is a from a textbook and I cannot seem to figure how to sketch this:
y=(x+3)^4
It doesn't say much about it in the txtbook, but do I use the binomial theorem or is there another way. And what year or unit of methods will I nee binomial theorem in?

Please help out!!
Thank you!!!!!!

Hi there,

You do not need to expand this - in fact, it is much easier to sketch the graph in the form you have provided. This is a quartic graph, and follows a similar shape to a parabola/quadratic function. In general, functions with even integer powers follow the same general shape, but you should cover this either later this year, or next year.

It's always good to have an understanding of the binomial theorem, although it has not come up frequently in VCAA exams.

Hope that helps :)
