d0minicz:
is it more difficult to get into a post-grad course at a different uni (eg: melb uni) from which you did your undergrad (eg: monash)? bias?

@appian way= i DID NOT say teachers are dumb (in relation to the -ve karma) please copy/paste where I said that.

I never said you did. My justification for the negative karma was that I know lots of teachers who are highly intelligent who would take offense at the statement that teaching isn't a respected profession. I know of teachers who've achieved perfect scores (either in individual subjects or as ENTERs) in their VCE and HSC, and they entered teaching to make a difference. As far as I know, their parents were pleased with their decision. Teachers have long been considered respectable and knowledgeable members of the community, and I think to infer that their pursuits have limited success and influence (and hence causing teaching qualifications to be viewed in a negative light) is just insulting.
Back on topic - I wouldn't choose BBiomed unless I was confident that I wanted to go on and complete a MD or equivalent post graduate qualification. I'd rather undertake the BSci to keep my options open and study different sciences. But that's just me - I'm leaning towards raw science at the moment anyway.

No, you just make sure you meet prerequisites for the course

Yeah, also it is VERY competitive. I am also looking at doing Postgraduate but I will not be doing it at my original Uni, but transfer to another. I went to a open day thing, and they said from what I remember they have a very large pool of students, so you are not guaranteed a place even if you meet the prerequisites, therefore I presume they MIGHT favour those who are from their Uni. That's just my opinion, and I cannot base it on anything, like if I was melb Uni, I would prefer to see my students do post-grad, not another's, but yeah. Unfortunately I am not a brick complex.
I am sure if you do well, you will be accepted, besides doesn't Monash offer post-grad if all else fails?

Once you've met the prerequisites, you will be selected for Grad Med with GPA (uni grades), GAMSAT score, and interview. So it doesn't really matter which uni you come from, or which course you do. All it comes down to is a competitive GPA (E.g. minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0 to be considered, but you will most likely need 6.5/7.0), as well as GAMSAT. Monash does offer grad Med, but I think their campus is in Gippsland for this and might have to move there if you get in :-\
