Rankings and ATAR?

Hey guys!

So I ended up receiving my marks for my Maths trial today along with my rankings. I mean... it's not that bad, I ended up being ranked 20/65. From all the articles that I have read, from what I understand, your internal marks are worth 50% and it's not so much the MARK that matters, but the ranking. So my question is (because I'm still kind of confused), if I push it real hard and I end up coming say 10th instead of 20th in my external HSC exam, how does that kind of play into the marks I get and my ATAR?

Hey hey! Have you read this guide? ;D

To answer your question - Let's say you get the 10th highest mark, call it 90/100 after alignment. Your mark will be similar (this is simplifying it but think of it this way) to the 20th highest mark in the room. Not exactly, but similar-ish. Maybe the 20th highest mark is 80/100, so yours could be like, 82/100. Average of 82 and 90 is 86/100 for that subject :)
