Monash undergrad to Melbourne postgrad med

Hey all, wasn't sure whether to post this in the UoM thread or the Monash thread but does anyone have any information on getting into postgrad medicine at UoM after doing undergrad biomed at monash. Is it possible? If so, how much more competitive is it as opposed to going from Melbourne biomed to Melbourne med? Also, if it is possible can you go from biomed/commerce double at monash to postgrad med at melbourne? Any info is appreciated,
cheers :D :D

Yeah, it is possible to go from Monash biomed to Unimelb med, or any degree/degrees for that matter as long as you complete the medical pre-req equivalents. I think the standard in both Melbourne and Monash Biomed is fairly similar although in Monash you have the advantage of doing post-grads in Unimelb as well as at Monash itself (doesn't work vice versa). Obviously doing Unimelb biomed and not getting into the MD there is not the end of the world though, there's Deakin and plenty of interstate universities (Notre Dame, Wollongong, Sydney etc.).

EDIT: also Unimelb students are not prioritised over Monash students for MD places there.

Will second the above. There's this whole conspiracy theory about the idea that the MMIs at Melbourne are structured to help Melbourne kids and that first year MD1 disadvantages anyone who didn't do Melbourne biomed. These are both largely bullshit. The MMIs suit Monash better, because they actually get forced to do some public health and epidemiology, as well as leave their biomed course with some tangible skills (something Melbourne does super poorly). The MD1 stuff is partly true insofar as a lot of Melbourne students do anatomy majors, which makes the process a lot easier. Beyond that though, not true at all.

Would highly recommend doing biomed at Monash and post grad med at Melbourne.
