Amount of time to finish practice exams

What's the ideal amount of time to complete practice exams (2hr cas ones)? (not including checking answers)?

I've done quite a few so far and find that I normally have anywhere between 25 to 15 mins left on the clock once I've finished every question. (of course this time is used to check answers). For example on my most recent one I finished with 17mins left, checked as much stuff as I could in that time and got a 99%.

My question is, is this an ideal amount of time or am I working too slow? Should I try to speed up so I have more time to check at the end or is this just how it is with methods?

If you tend to finish early, you are already in an excellent spot. I think the key is simply to balance doing questions thoroughly and doing them reasonably quickly. You don't want to rush over key words in questions or make silly mistakes because you were trying to finish, say, half an hour early. But you also don't want to be so careful that you struggle to finish.

For me personally, I find that if I rush through and finish with plenty of time left I tend to be lazy when going back over questions. I'd simply assume that I had done something correctly and look over it half heartedly. This is what I found to be true especially in further and methods where I consistently finish exams an hour early and 40-50 mins early respectively. Instead my new strategy has been do nail the questions on the first go by doing at an absolute snail pace. Doing so still allows me to have ~15 minutes left in the end which I believe is sufficient.

Thanks for the reply! I agree with you on the balance, I used to rush through SACs and tests like crazy but would 1. make lots of mistakes and 2. get lazy (like you said) and not really bother to look over questions. Now that I work slower I find it to be a lot better.

Definitely go with whatever works for you!

Personally, I would rather go through the exam twice since I like checking my answers using a different technique. If you can do a question two times with two different techniques the likelihood of getting the same wrong answer is tiny. This meant you had to get through the exams quite quickly (although I don't think I was really rushing too much )and was completing exam 2's in 55 -70 mins depending on the difficulty.
