multiple choice??

(1/1)

dcesaona:
I was doing a multiple choice section for Pompeii and Herculaneum and it asked me where the 'Tomb of the Flavii' is located. Of course I had no clue so I made a wild guess. I have NEVER heard of that source before...Are we expected to know where many of the tombs in Pompeii and Herculaneum are located? I can't be making wild guesses in the HSC but I constantly find myself doing just that!!

I frequently come across sources I've never seen before in the multiple choice. Is that bad?

Hey,
Is that question from last years paper?
For that question, there haven't been any tombs discovered in Herculaneum. According to a law of Pompeii, the tombs can't be located within the city walls, so all of the tombs discovered from Pompeii are outside the Nuceria gate.

I think the multiple choice was sometimes really hard because there are usually a few tricky questions. For my HSC, I think I'd never seen at least 2 of the sources. It is really good to try to go into the exam with a wide knowledge of sources (from both Pompeii & Herculaneum) but obviously you can't know every source.

If you come across a source that you aren't too sure about, try to consider all of the options (and cross off those you know are wrong) and then choose the answer that is the most correct with regards to the source. Even if you aren't too sure, try not to spend too much time on the multiple choice because each question is only worth 1 mark and wouldn't really affect your overall mark too much.

Hope this helps!!  :D
