CASE STUDIES
ZUB0001:
If anyone has any recommendations on what case studies we should use for the Exam suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also how well do the examiners check that the case study is withing the 4 year period, could you get away with an older one?
kat01:
I went to this lecture, and the presenter was an examiner. he said to obviously try to find real examples that have happened within 4 years, but I mean if you are stuck in the exam, and have to make things up, as long as it sounds realistic.. should be fine.
for operations management you could use yakult. they have a bunch of info on their website, check it out! a few of their strategies are..
forecasting: their sales departement usually use regression analysis to predict their sales for upcoming months, and manufacture accordingly
quality control: more than 100 checks are carried out during production to ensure the final product tastes right and is up to their standards
waste management: left over liquids go into a holding tank, and the pH of the combined liquids are adjusted to meet melbourne's water standards, before being released into sewage system
and recycling occurs where possible, and bottles are crushed with other materials to create plastic products
for csr, you could use lush cosmetics.
one of their values is to produce naked packaging (solid products that dont require packaging)
they only provide paper bags in their stores, and no plastic bags
another of their values is ethical buying: they only manufacture their products in the country of trade. this reduces transportation, and reduces their carbon footprint. also, they aim to end the cycle of poverty for farmers by sourcing their inputs locally
for change, i use mostly aus post. check out their annual report!
they needed to respond to KPIs such as falling profits, falling sales, number of customer complaints, percentage of market share (eCommerce market continues to grow..)
to respond to these things, they introduced parcel lockers (can be found in supermarkets, with 24/7 access)
they developed an app: used to calculate costs, view and track parcels..
created "my post digital mailbox" which is used to receive and pay bills, store documents online, receive digital mail...
introduced eVechiles, which can hold up to 100 small parcels and 1200 letters
u could also use the ban on plastic bags in woolworths for change? could be applied to lewin's 3 step change model
and for CSR during change, you could use woolworths' response to masters' closure: they pledged that around 3000 of masters' employees would be redeployed within stores such as big w, woolworths supermarkets..
employees were kept informed of the changes, and woolworths went above and beyond what is required from legal obligations (demonstrating CSR)
hope this helped in any way.. i am still trying to fine more stuff as well :-[
